Waste Management Gives Simi Valley Hospital Foundation $5,000 as Part of a 5-Year $25,000 Pledge Toward Building Project

Oct. 30, 2005 - Waste Management (Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center, GI Rubbish) recently contributed its fourth annual installment payment of $5,000 as part of a 5-year, $25,000 contribution to the Simi Valley Hospital Foundation patient care tower building project. Total amount given to date is $20,000.

“We appreciate the personal and financial contributions that Waste Management has provided to the patient care tower building project over the years,” said Gary Irish, SVH president and CEO. “Waste Management has been supportive of many community foundations, and the hospital has been central to their charitable efforts since the beginning of the tower’s construction.”

The Patient Care Tower will be a four-story, 146,000 square-foot patient care wing featuring an expanded Intensive Care Unit, 168 private care rooms and eight Women’s Unit labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum rooms. Completion of the Tower is anticipated to be completed by January 2007.

The Patient Care Tower design and build costs are estimated at $40 million. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide $16 million of the cost, and Adventist Health, Simi Valley Hospital's corporate parent, has committed $10 million. That leaves approximately $9 million to come through fund raising and other activities of the Simi Valley Hospital Foundation.
