Residents of cities in eastern Ventura County will be able to dispose of yard waste and household refuse at no cost on several days this year, officials said.

The free days at the Simi Valley Landfill are scheduled on Sunday for Moorpark residents, May 20 for Simi Valley residents, and May 27 for Thousand Oaks residents at a different drop-off location in the Conejo Valley.

Hazardous materials, construction debris and business waste will not be accepted.

Household waste from residents of Moorpark can be dumped or recycled without charge from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the landfill, 2801 Madera Road, Simi Valley, just north of Highway 118.

Information is available by calling Moorpark City Hall at 517-6257 or the Simi Valley Landfill at 579-7267.

Simi Valley residents will be able to dump or recycle their materials free from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 20 at the landfill.

Thousand Oaks residents will be able to dump their materials from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 27 at Conejo Creek Park South on Janss Road, east of Highway 23, in Thousand Oaks.

A second free dump day for Moorpark residents will be held Sept. 16, for Simi Valley residents Oct. 21 and Thousand Oaks residents Sept. 16, according to Waste Management, which operates the landfill.
