Come see what is going on at the Simi Valley Landfill
As you know, we are in the early stages of planning for an expansion and improvements to our facility. As part of this process, we want your feedback on our preliminary plans and designs. We would like invite you to take a tour of the landfill and our property to learn more about our operations.
We would like you to see our state-of-the-art greenwaste recycling program, methane gas-to-energy systems, our innovative programs to effectively manage our operations, and the rolling acres of various habitats that buffer our landfill operations from the community. Our modern engineered landfill is an environmentally sound system for solid waste disposal. All aspects of the landfill are controlled to ensure that the health and safety of everyone living and working around the landfill are protected and the environment is secure.
We will also show you the areas of potential future landfill growth and the controls that we are planning in order to protect and preserve what is best about the hills of Simi Valley. We are confident that our preliminary landfill plans reflect our demonstrated commitment to the environment and that the landfill will be designed to create the maximum benefit for everyone.
Currently, there are only two landfills operating in Ventura County. County experts estimate that Ventura County could generate more trash than we currently have space for in our County in as little as six years. Waste Management is dedicated to meeting the long-term waste disposal and recycling needs of Ventura County, while continuing to be a leader in environmental stewardship.
Tours will be approximately one hour long, and we are currently scheduling them in the early morning in order to avoid the summer heat. If you cannot make any of our scheduled tours, we would be happy to try to accommodate you with different times.
It is important to us that you know the facts about WM, our landfill and our role in and continued commitment to Ventura County. We want to keep you informed of everything that we are doing. To request materials or sign up for a tour, please email Suzanne Sues with your name, address and phone number.
Have a great summer and look for more news from us in the coming months!
Best wishes,
