Clean diesel technology will eliminate air pollution from 90 percent – or about 13 million – of today's trucks and buses.
The Simi Landfill & Recycling Center powers 2,500 homes each day with two landfill gas-to-energy generators using methane gas.
Clean diesel engines and fuels will prevent nearly 8,300 premature deaths, along with tens of thousands of cases of bronchitis, asthma and other respiratory ailments.
Throughout the U.S., particulate matter will be reduced by 250,000 tons, and NOx by 4 million tons every year.
In California alone, particulate matter will be reduced by 110,000 tons, and NOx by 2.6 million tons every year.

Longtime Simi Mayor Bill Davis Joins Waste Management as a Community Relations Consultant
We are proud to announce that well-known and respected community leader, Bill Davis is joining us. Bill comes to Waste Management with more than two decades of experience working in Ventura County managing and implementing government and community relations programs in the region.
Bill is looking forward to being part of our team and help get the word out about Waste Management’s commitment to Ventura County: “I have worked in public service for a long time, so when the opportunity came along to be a part of the Waste Management team, I ran after it.” “I know first-hand that Waste Management is an organization that works hard to serve people and make a difference.”
Bill’s political career began in 1986 when he was appointed to Simi Valley City Council to complete the remaining two years of a four-year term. He was officially elected to the City Council in 1988, where he served as Mayor Pro Tem for several terms before serving as mayor from 1998 to 2004.
Bill will help Waste Management to develop and implement an outreach plan to advise the company on community issues while engaging stakeholders and informing local residents about Waste Management’s green energy and recycling capabilities and plans to extend the life of the landfill. He will also represent Waste Management at community events and meetings to foster partnerships with the community as part of the planning for improvements to the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center.
Bill is an immensely talented community leader who brings a great deal of enthusiasm, creativity and knowledge to our organization. We are extremely pleased to have him join us as a community relations consultant.
