Eliminate Excess Waste and
Create a Valuable Resource

As the temperature continues to drop and the days grow shorter, the leaves begin to fall and the grass begins to grow. During the winter months Waste Management would like to encourage everyone to reduce and recycle as much of this green waste as possible.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Americans generate 180 million tons of garbage each year and nearly 18% (or 32 million tons ) is green waste including grass leaves, plant trimmings, tree branches and prunings.

By recycling or composting green waste, we are reducing the amount of waste that is placed into landfills and saving our natural resources. Composting is a great way to eliminate excess natural waste while also creating a valuable resource that can be reused. For more information, check out the Earths 911 website at: www.Earth911.org

If you can’t compost in your backyard, please use the green waste containers provided by Waste Management and start helping to preserve our landfill and our resources.
