Tapo Canyon Park to Reopen - Thanks to Waste Management and Supervisor Mikels

Responding to the devastation left behind by the fires and floods that closed Tapo Canyon Park, Waste Management is teaming with County Supervisor Judy Mikels to adopt the Park.

For years Tapo Canyon Regional Park provided a beautiful setting in the Santa Susana Mountains for families to enjoy. The park offered a picnic area; a playground, an equestrian arena and a large undeveloped youth group camping area. Unfortunately, a few years ago heavy rainstorms and the resulting swollen creeks created mudslides that necessitated the closure of this wonderful park. Latter-Day Saints Come Marching to Alamos Canyon

Over 1200 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints recently spent the weekend camping in Alamos Canyon to celebrate the 200th birthday of Joseph Smith, the founder of the church.

As part of the celebration, the members of the church re-enacted the journey of the handcart companies that left Winter Quarters in Missouri headed for Salt Lake City, Utah. READ MORE >

WM Auctions Famous “Tonight Show” Harley

Waste Management, Inc. proudly auctioned the now famous “Tonight Show” Harley-Davidson motorcycle to benefit the Bush Clinton Katrina Fund on Saturday, December 10, 2005. Earlier this year, the company purchased the motorcycle in an online eBay auction for $800,100, which was donated to the Red Cross International Disaster Fund to benefit the victims of the devastating Southeast Asian Tsunami.
