Reaching out to the Community
Dear Friends,
The Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center has been spending a lot of time out in the community this month. In addition to our regular tours and meetings, the SVLRC hosted three local community events to help raise awareness of the proposed Modernization and Expansion Project.
First, we gathered at the Grand Vista Hotel on October 28th. The room was decked out with a variety of poster boards detailing each phase and aspects of the project. A team of experts was available to answer attendees' questions and concerns, while other guests were watching the project video.
On November 7, the landfill hosted an Open House Event. We welcomed over 150 guests and many of them joined us on a tour of our facility and discussed our proposed future plans. While children (and quite a few adults) enjoyed activities such as a bouncer, arts and crafts and the Waste Management truck on display, our team of experts engaged in great dialogue with the guests throughout the day.
Finally, we attended the Simi Valley Networking Breakfast on November 13th for our business chamber members better understand our future plans of our project. We were able to reach out to these folks and illustrate the importance of the project.
Over the last month, we've had a lot of fun engaging with our fellow community members. We're nowhere near done, though! We thank you for all of your support during this process and if you would like to schedule your own tour or would like additional information about the Modernization and Expansion project, please contact Lisa Hemenway at (805) 581-1746 or visit our website at http://www.keepingventuracountyclean.com/expansion.html.
From all of us at Waste Management, we wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Mike Smith
