Thank You

Dear Friends:

We want to thank all of you who joined us at our Simi Valley Landfill Open House event.

The weather was perfect and we were so glad to have more than 150 community members join us at the fun-filled event.

The day started off with landfill tours of our facility and an up-close look at our future plans of extending the life of the landfill, increasing recycling services, expanding out green energy programs and preserving open space.

The tours provided a valuable in-depth look at the new landfill, which is located directly behind the current landfill and almost entirely shielded from view by the natural mountain ridgelines.

Other activities included crafts, a bouncer for kids, photo opportunity in one of WM’s LNG trash truck, free mulch donated from Agromin (made from recycled greenwaste collected from Simi residents and other Ventura County communities) and a bird demonstration.

We had a lot of questions from the community and we appreciated the open and honest dialogue. We have always been committed to having our project work for the community. The benefits of the project, as we see them, include:
Maintaining over 275 jobs right here in Simi Valley
Contributing over $48 million to the local economy and over $3.6 million to local government agency budgets
Increasing recycling capabilities at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center, including building an Environmental Collection Center that would allow us to collect e-waste, paint and batteries from residents.
We hope you had as much fun as we did and all of your questions were answered. If you were not able to attend and want to take a tour to learn more about our future plans, please contact Lisa Hemenway at (805) 581-1746.
