Our Employees Make the Difference

I’m proud to tell you that in the past year, GI Rubbish of Ventura/Los Angeles County has reduced more than 50 tons per year of harmful air emissions from our fleet of garbage and recycling trucks.

In addition to investing in our equipment, we are also investing in our most important resource, our people. To help our drivers spend less time on the road to and from work, WM established a vanpool program in 2005. A total of 24employees participate in the program. As one employee told me, “It’s very nice. People are very happy and appreciate the company paying the bill. We are saving a lot of time and saving a lot of money, and also saving our cars by not putting on extra miles or wearing out the tires.”

The vanpool has removed many cars from the road, in turn reducing pollution and reducing the amount of natural resources used by Waste Management employees commuting to and from work.

The vanpool program is just one of the many programs we are engaged in to support our mission of keeping our community clean and our employees happy.

You can read about some of our other community and environmental efforts on our Web site, at www.KeepingVenturaCountyClean.com.

All the best,
