SIMI VALLEY LANDFILL & RECYCLING CENTER
Modernization & Expansion Update

Dear Friends,

I am pleased to report that after three days of hearing, the Ventura County Planning Commission recommended approval of the modernization and expansion of the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center which consolidates operations, expands recycling programs, preserves open space for wildlife habitat conservation, increases green energy production and landfill capacity.

Many of you have been with us from the beginning and we are very grateful for your support. Over the last three years, we have seen over 5,000 visitors at the landfill, attended over 24 Simi Valley Neighborhood Council Meetings, made 18 presentations at community meetings, hosted 5 community events including Earth Day, Landfill Open House and community informational meetings, distributed over 24 enewsletters and included over 368,000 informational pieces included in your bi-monthly statements.

This process has allowed complete transparency and the opportunity for you to get involved and provide feedback to ensure we have a great project with many benefits for the community.

We are not done yet! The Ventura County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to discuss the modernization project on May 17th. If you are interested in learning more about our future plans or wish to schedule a tour of the facility, please contact Lisa Hemenway at (805) 581-1746 or by e-mail at Lhemenway1@wm.com.

Sincerely,

Mike Smith
Director of Operations
