SIMI VALLEY LANDFILL & RECYCLING CENTER
Modernization & Expansion Update
|
Dear Supporters,
WM's Simi Valley project team has been working very hard to generate a project that is best for Simi Valley and Ventura County as a whole. As part of that, we think you should know the project will ensure Ventura County's needs for adequate and environmentally safe disposal will be met for years to come.
In addition, the modernization projects will:
- Maintain 230 good-paying jobs
- Inject more than $48 million annually into the Ventura County economy.
- Puts Simi Valley and the County at the forefront of the green movement by increasing production of green energy to power as 6,250 homes and by establishing one of the first LEED-certified facilities at a landfill.
- Preserve open space for wildlife habitat conservation
Next week, there will be a community forum for residents to learn more about WM's future plans. After the presentations, you will be able to speak one on one with WM and environmental experts regarding the project.
The Ventura County Planning Commission will be the next day to review the proposed modernization and expansion of the Simi Valley Landfill & Recycling Center (SVLRC). If approved, the project will go before the Ventura County Board of Supervisor's in May.
We need you! Please join us at these upcoming events to show support for this important project.

Waste Management's Modernization and Expansion project for the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center includes many benefits to the community, including expanding recycling capabilities and creating open space for wildlife habitat conservation.
The Simi Landfill and Recycling Center alone powers the equivalent of 2,500 homes each day with two landfill gas-to-energy generators using methane gas.
