• Our renewable energy projects create enough energy to power nearly 1 million homes and save the equivalent of more than 14 million barrels of oil per year.

  • The Simi Landfill and Recycling Center alone powers the equivalent of 2,500 homes each day with two landfill gas-to-energy generators using methane gas.

  • WM’s North American operations recycled enough paper in one year to save 41 million trees.

  • In California, we operate the largest fleet of clean natural gas collection vehicles and have reduced air emissions by 247 tons.

  • Dear Friends,

It’s been such a busy time for us at Waste Management that it’s hard to believe that we’re almost four months into 2007. We’ve been keeping up our involvement in the community and were recently recognized by the Boys and Girls Club and the Simi Valley Police Foundation for our efforts. In addition, we’ve been working to not only maintain, but also enhance the safety level of our operations. We reached an important milestone recently: six years without an accident or injury. Also, all eight of our heavy equipment operators recently received certification from Caterpillar, making the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center the first fully certified landfill for heavy equipment in California.

Although we encourage our customers to recycle every day, with Earth Day coming up, this is a good time to go over what items you can place in your recycling container. We try to make recycling as easy as possible, but certain items can’t be recycled so please refer to our list for more information. READ MORE >

Most of the items we use and toss on a daily basis are recyclable. For example, did you know you can now recycle all types of plastic bags? And, as long as you remove the waxy liner and any food waste, you can also recycle pizza and cereal boxes. Here are some additional recycling guidelines. READ MORE >
