PROJECT UPDATE
Environmental Impact Report
|
Dear Friends,
As part of our commitment to complete transparency before, during and after the proposed modernization project, Waste Management is continuing its efforts to keep you and the community informed about our project.
Most recently, the Ventura County's Planning Division Final Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) is now completed. Our project is expected to go before the Planning Commission sometime in March.
We are glad the final draft is complete and look forward to the next stage of the process. We are thankful to the community for getting involved and providing feedback for such an important project.
You can obtain a copy of the final document by one of the following:
Waste Management maintains 230 good paying jobs in Ventura County and injects more than $48 million annually into the County economy and is at the forefront of the green energy industry, powering over 2,500 homes with its landfill gas to energy (LGE) technology.
We appreciate your engagement and sticking with us throughout the past few years. We have a good project and our intention is to make sure you know what our plans are to feel good about it too. We will continue to keep you informed of ongoing activities.
For more information on the project or to schedule a landfill tour, please contact Lisa Hemenway at (805) 581-1746 or email Lhemenway1@wm.com.
Best,

Waste Management's Modernization and Expansion project for the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center includes many benefits to the community, including expanding recycling capabilities and creating open space for wildlife habitat conservation.
The Simi Landfill and Recycling Center alone powers the equivalent of 2,500 homes each day with two landfill gas-to-energy generators using methane gas
