SIMI VALLEY LANDFILL & RECYCLING CENTER
Modernization & Expansion Update
|
Dear Friends,
Happy New Year! We hope you had a happy holiday season and a great start to the New Year!
As we enter the final stages of the approval process for the Simi Valley Landfill Recycling Center's (SVLRC) Modernization and Expansion Project, we want to extend our thanks to the Simi Valley community for the constructive dialogue and vital support that has contributed to a great project. This project will not only continue to offer an environmentally safe option to recycling and waste disposal, but will bring many benefits to the local economy and the community.
As promised, we want to continue our commitment to keeping you informed and want to share the latest news in our permitting efforts.
As you know, after an eight-year process, the County of Ventura's Board of Supervisors approved on July 19, 2011 the SVLRC's Modernization and Expansion Project. Following this approval, we submitted an application to the Ventura County Local Enforcement Agency (LEA), as required, to update our landfill operating permits. Just before the end of the year, the LEA deemed the application complete. The next step for the LEA is to host a public informational meeting regarding the revisions requested for our landfill operating permits.
Residents are invited to attend and to learn more about the permit revision and provide comments to the LEA. This meeting is strictly informational and no official decision will be made at the meeting regarding the permit application.
